Library Theatre’s Production of Neil Simon’s Chapter Two Cancelled
Manchester’s Library Theatre, in Central Library in St Peter’s Square in Manchester city centre, regrets to announce that following the fire in a theatre store-room on the evening of Friday 30 March, it has been decided to cancel the remainder of the run of the Neil Simon comedy Chapter Two, which was due to finish on Saturday 14 April.
Much of the theatre including the auditorium, bars, box office, café and toilets, and the stage itself, were unaffected by the blaze. But the spaces which were badly affected have to be cleared, cleaned and meet the appropriate Health and Safety regulations before the theatre can fully re-open for business.
“It is with much reluctance that we have had to take this decision,” explained the theatre’s Artistic Director Chris Honer, “not least because most of the theatre escaped any damage in the fire. But the safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance, so we were not left with much choice.”
Patrons with tickets for Chapter Two can contact the box office on 0161 236 7110 for a credit voucher, tickets for another show, or to obtain a refund. The Library’s programme will resume with the north west premiere of Simon Block’s black comedy Not A Game For Boys, which is scheduled to open on Thursday 19 April and run until Saturday 28 April.
