Katie Lewis, Resident Assistant Director at the Library Theatre, will be running a series of acting workshops for those wanting to gain more experience or brush up on their acting skills. She will be exploring practically how an actor can make use of various techniques and draw on them when in rehearsal and working on a character.
Exploring Meisner: Thursday 15th April
An introductory look at the Meisner technique. We will be looking at the repetition exercise, applying the technique to specific scenes and analysing how it can be utilised in the rehearsal room.
Exploring Laban: Wednesday 5th May
A practical movement and voice workshop exploring Laban’s methodologies and how they might be applied in the rehearsal room with character work and approaches to text.
Exploring Actioning: Wednesday 26th May
What constitutes an action? How can you action a monologue/soliloquy? We will be exploring and demystifying the practice of actioning by breaking down various scenes and assessing the value of this technique in the rehearsal room.
Each session takes place between 7 - 9.45pm, tickets cost £9.
